ALICE + OLIVIA

As usual, Alice + Olivia was a riot of prints tailored for the rock 'n' roll chick, mixing bright florals and animal prints with military style jackets and ripped-to-shreds jeans. Would it surprise you to learn that my heart is, like, totally bursting over this pink coat paired with sparkly booties? Probably not. And that matching heart-print crop top and shorts set is calling for Taylor Swift, wherever she is. —Tyler McCall

CLAUDIA LI

Claudia Li's whole Fall 2017 collection was drool-worthy, from the voluminous gathered sleeves to the rich autumnal blues and browns. This corduroy suit, with its oversize lapels and drooping shoulders, feels like just the right update on all the vintage blazers I've been collecting for years. —Whitney Bauck

COACH

Coach Fall 201Photo: Imaxtree

Coach Fall 201Photo: Imaxtree

There was a lot to take in at Coach's fall spectacular, and after six very long days of New York Fashion Week-ing, I mean this in the best possible way. I view this show as total escapism, as 15 minutes of being displaced in a field, running my fingers through prairie grass, listening to Elvis. This season, Stuart Vevers & Co. leaned very heavily into shearling, incorporating the shaggy fur on baseball caps, corduroy jackets and longer coats. This look (on dream gal Lexi Boling) had all that and then some; I especially liked the sheerness of the skirt as paired with the heavier sneakers. Good stuff all around. —Maura Brannigan

I'm a sucker for a cherry print, and I love that Coach's take isn't too sweet. Black cherries scattered across a dark plaid is already a win, but the tiny stars at the yoke? Brilliant. Would it be too much if I paired it with one of the cherry printed bags? I'm certainly going to try. —Tyler McCall

GABRIELA HEARST

Woolmark Prize winner Gabriela Hearst continued her signature minimalist luxe aesthetic for fall 2017 with a front row packed with the fanciest editors in the business — all perhaps making mental notes for their own pre-order shopping lists. The designer also took turtleneck dressing to a new level with a sexy, extra-fine silk and sheer layer under a slinky beaded velvet dress. —Fawnia Soo Hoo

NAEEM KHAN

Naeem Khan Fall 2017. Photo: Imaxtree

For fall 2017, Naeem Khan took inspiration from a cosmopolitan, well-traveled woman for a "modern take" on day to night dressing. The global message was translated through a mélange of embellishments — studs, sequins, beading, fringe and feathers — and silhouettes ranging from louche pantsuits (with only lacy bralettes) to caped evening gowns. But the designer closed on a poignant note. A model slowly walked the runway in an ornate Indian wedding-inspired gown (that thanks to the Grammys, brought Beyoncé to mind) to a reading of Maya Angelou's "Human Family." —Fawnia Soo Hoo

NARCISO RODRIGUEZ

Narciso Rodriguez is brilliant at making clothes that women want to wear. They're not flashy, and they aren't the kind that will be street style bait come fall, but they are luxurious and, best of all, deeply practical. For Fall 2017, Rodriguez kept with a fairly neutral color palette, which meant this burnt orange look stood out from the pack. The mix of textures between the leather, suede and the wool pants added a layer of interest to the monochromatic outfit. Subtle, but so beautiful: That's what Rodriguez does best. —Tyler McCall

PYER MOSS

I love Pyer Moss for the way it's been so unapologetically political in the past. But this season's collection, which more quietly focused on designer Kerby Jean-Raymond's father, was meaningful in a different way — and hey, if the personal is political, maybe talking about your immigrant dad is no less charged. Even if I didn't know the story behind it, though, I would've thought these sweaters featuring images of Jean-Raymond's dad dope enough to be worth copping. —Whitney Bauck

SALLY LAPOINTE

When talking to Sally LaPointe, the woman, during Sally LaPointe, the presentation, I made a point of telling her how cool her show concept was. She traded in a runway or any sort of live models, even, for a series of screens that depicted each look in movement; in the back of the show space hung the pieces themselves for guests to see and touch. This suited look, a favorite of the designer's, stood out to me due to its immaculate detailing. Plus, when the Sally LaPointe woman goes to a formal event, I was told, she doesn't like to wear a gown; that's where this puppy comes in handy. —Maura Brannigan

TORY BURCH

Trying to pick a favorite look from this collection is like asking me to pick a favorite child: I loved every look Tory Burch sent down the runway for Fall 2017. But, between the turtleneck layered under a collared dress and the flats with a bow detail, this one sums up the Blair Waldorf-ness of it all. I need it all immediately. —Tyler McCall

ZAC POSEN

Zac Posen Fall 2017. Photo: Zac Posen

This season, Zac Posen abandoned his traditional show format — a dramatic, extravagant runway show — for something we can get on board with: a PARTY! He shot each look from his collection on a cast of his go-to models (like Lindsey Wixson, Jourdan Dunn and Carolyn Murphy) and displayed them throughout the loft-like venue. I was not cool enough to be there. Anyway, this structured gown was stunning! —Maura Brannigan

COLORFUL FURS TOOK OVER STREET STYLE ON DAY 6 OF NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Fashion

A (furry) pop of color. Photos: Imaxtree

A (furry) pop of color.

When it comes to fashion week in the winter, a statement coat is all you really need for a street style-worthy look. At New York Fashion Week: Men's last month, we saw fur coats aplenty, but this time around, showgoers went for pops of color with their (hopefully faux) outerwear. On day six of the New York shows, there were pretty pinks — a favorite color among jackets and coats this week — and various shades of blue, from powdery pastel to cerulean. We'd like to hat-tip a couple of fall 2016 runway moments, like Saint Laurent's red "heart" coat and Gucci's pink fox fur coat, that might have inspired the fashion flock to go for their brightest, softest pieces.
