Elie Tahari Spring/Summer 2017 RTW Collection – NYFW

Elie Tahari showed a full and well rounded collection of springtime looks that honestly no one was expecting. The entire Elie Tahari spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collectionactually gives rise to feelings of spring and summer. The collection was full of evening clothes that were beautifully embellished and tailored. According to Tahari, the inspiration for the collection was the atmosphere of St. Tropez during the Sixties and Seventies.

Elie Tahari Spring/ Summer 2017 RTW Collection – NYFW

The looks in the Elie Tahari spring 2017 collection included lace, knits and crochets. The fit on the clothes was designed to be loose and comfortable and made out of the materials that are perfect for the transitioning weather and atmosphere of spring.

For a collection of clothes that is certainly designed for an evening out, there is a lot of fun and lightness in the collection to say they can be worn whenever a person is in the mood. The dressy cardigan styled jackets were definitely the most fun and unexpected of the pieces in the line. There were combinations that included these jackets with dresses, pants and skirts, each look enhanced by the jacket rather than covered up. The stylishness of these jackets is no surprise as Elie Tahari has always had breathtaking outerwear options.

One of the jackets was black and completely see-through and embellished with beaded flowers and a lace styled look. It sat on a floral embroidered knee-length dress with a lace hem. The look of the ensemble was youthful and fun. There is a similar version of the black sheer jacket in white, which adorns a classically styled white dress. In another ensemble the jacket is royal blue and set against a baby blue dress with a floor-length sheer maxi skirt.

The feel and design of the Elie Tahari spring 2017 collection was fun and intricate, but attention to detail is a gift of Elie Tahari that is well utilized. Within the collection there are unexpected pleats and lace, tulle, and light colors, which were melded together beautifully to enhance the other elements.

According to Elie Tahiri the collection was done with the intention to fill a need that his retailers brought to his attention. Tahiri stated: “I find there’s a real shortage of available evening tops,” and he clearly set out to fill this need and did so in an elegant and alluring way.

The Elie Tahari SS 2017 lineup also has a lot of texture and visual appeal. As a designer it is apparent that Elie Tahari is very in touch with and concerned about the needs of his core client. Here we see the efforts to produce a beautiful collection and meet a need be achieved beautifully.

In a short span of time, Aurora James has turned brand  into a budding fashion force(alongside Gypsy Sport and Jonathan Simkhai) and joining the  class of 2018.

Well, when the fashion industry takes note of you, it's only a matter of time before Zara does, too.

Brother Vellies' furry sandals have become a signature; the is made of nubuck and fox fur.  Polyester and synthetic fur, which at $59.90, costs just a fraction of the original.

More than the design, though, Zara's copycat sandal surely doesn't include any of the ethically produced components of the original. "Stolen from Africa," James notes in her Instagram of Zara's sandal, referring to Brother Vellies' commitment to responsible sourcing. The brand's shoes are made from sustainable materials and handcrafted by artisans in Kenya, South Africa and Morocco. The Dhara was made in Ethiopia.

Attempting to reproduce runway hits is nothing new for Zara, but lately it seems like the fast fashion brand is hitting new lows. Just last month, who took to Instagram to prove Zara's pins and patches were blatant rip-offs of their own designs. Between small, social-media based artists and ethical brands like Brother Vellies, it seems like few designs are safe from Zara's reach.

7 Fall Weekend Escapes To Beat The End-Of-Summer Blues

Somehow, summer will come to its final conclusion next weekend, and yet we already feel like it never happened. The perfect tans we had planned were replaced by pale skin which shivered in the office A/C, the rooftop cocktails we planned to consume were drunk instead while watchingStranger Things from bed, and the many trips we intended to take were lost to the wedding weekends of friends and family. Rather than be bummed about summer’s impossibly premature end, however, we thought it might be prudent to plan at least one fall getaway ASAP in order to give ourselves something to look forward to as temperatures dip. Here, seven getaways, at least one of which should be quick, easy and cheap from wherever you live (especially with airfares at an all-time low).breakfast6_02

Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico City may just be the it destination du jour. If you're looking for some of the world's best food, art and culture within a stone's throw of the American south, this, the largest metropolitan area in the US, is your best bet.

What To Do: Stay at the Downtown Mexico hotel, eat at Quintonil, visit the largest private art collection in Latin America, shop the La Merced market, visit the ruins at Tenochtitlan and sample mezcal at La Clandestina. If you happen to be in town for Day of the Dead celebrations in early November, we suggest you plan to attend the festivities in San Andres Mixquic, a small community in the southeast part of the city.

Temperatures (October): High, 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Low, 50.

Getting There: Flights from Dallas are just 2.5 hours in duration, and will cost you around $  for weekends in October (if booked now).
