The Chanel Robot Minaudiere Costs as Much as a Robot

Other Brands

Chanel is having a moment right now in the handbag world. The brand recently launched the Chanel Gabrielle Bag and the bag presents a major push for the brand. Will it become the next craze like the Boy Bag? That is yet to be determined, but Chanel sure hopes so.

Still, there are plenty of other bags to check out right now from Chanel Spring 2017. For a majority of seasons, Chanel usually adds a really quirky novelty clutch to the show’s lineup that plays a bit of fun on the collection’s theme (here’s a look at Chanel Novelty Bags over the years). As Spring 2017 was about the Chanel data center, the resulting novelty bag that was carried down the runway was a robot.

The Chanel Robot Minaudiere is that quirky number we’ve come to expect from Karl Lagerfeld. The bag isn’t really meant to be super functional, but more of a collector’s item. If I had all kinds of discretionary income laying around, I’d love an entire Chanel novelty bag closet with this little dude included. But that’s certainly not the case, especially not for $15,500.

That’s right, this little guy will set you back $15,500.

I mean that’s college tuition for many schools for more than just one year. Then again, loving designer bags isn’t about practicality and logic and that’s precisely why I adore this little guy so much.

Introducing Montblanc Summit, the world’s first smartwatch with a curved sapphire glass display

Back in 2015, Montblanc dabbled in the world of smartwatches by introducing E-Strap – the company’s first piece of smart wearable technology. Although the E-Strap combined the fine watchmaking of Montblanc with smart digital tech, it wasn’t a proper smartwatch. However, after two years, Montblanc has finally come with a proper high-end smartwatch. Meet the Montblanc Summit, the band’s first smartwatch. “Nothing compares to the sensation of traditional fine Swiss watchmaking, but in a fast moving world being able to access all kinds of information digitally has become essential,” explains Jerome Lambert CEO Montblanc International. “Montblanc Summit bridges these two worlds with a simple and highly functional product that gives its owners the freedom to have it all.”

For the Montblanc Summit Smartwatch, the luxury brand collaborated with Google. The watch runs on the all new Android Wear 2.0 OS and uses Qualcomm’s superfast Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor to deliver topnotch performance along with optimal battery life. As far as the design is concerned, the timepiece has been crafted to evoke the vintage appearance of Montblanc’s award-winning 1858 collection. In addition to the 46mm case, even the digital faces are a digital representation of the 1858 collection.

The Montblanc Summit Smartwatch has a 1.39” large AMOLED display is covered by a curved sapphire glass, a world-first in smartwatches. The 46mm case comes in a choice of four different materials and styles —black PVD coated stainless steel; a bi-color stainless steel case with a black PVD coated stainless steel bezel; stainless steel case with satinated finish and a grade 5 titanium case also with satinated finish. For those who need personalization, Montblanc is offering the possibility of designing unique personalized dial, working hand-in- hand with the Montblanc Creative Director, designers and engineers. The Montblanc Summit will be available from May 2017 with a starting price of €890 ($950 approximately).

Valentine’s Day 2017: 9 Bags, 9 New Loves…

Other Brands

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you would have noticed bag after bag on a bed of glorious pink roses. Yes, folks, it’s my little homage to Valentine’s Day, and if you’ve been looking for a new bag, maybe I can help. Yes, I’m here with not one, not two but 9 different bags for your kind perusal. Most are brands you’re already familiar with on this blog, like Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton, while others like Delvaux and Roger Vivier are the brands I hope to feature more of this coming year.

First up, we’ve got 3 lovelies that are all standouts in their own right. From Loewe we’ve got the Barcelona, the Twist from Louis Vuitton and to round up the third, Burberry’s Banner. Whilst the first two are sling bags with front flaps, the third, from Burberry, is your basic top handle carryall that also comes with its very own long sling.

Next up, feast your eyes on Dior’s Diorama, a Serpenti Forever from Bulgari and one of Roger Vivier’s Valentine’s Day offerings of the year, the Pilgrim Clutch that comes with its very own themed graphics. Again, the first two are both sling bags while the 3rd, from Roger Vivier, is a long clutch that will not look out of place when you’re out and about day or night.

Rounding up my selection for Valentine’s Day are these beauties from Céline, Chanel and Delvaux. The first two certainly need no introduction, respectively the Trotteur and the Boy Chanel. The third, Delvaux’s Têmpete is another top handled beauty that comes with its own long sling. All pretty in pink, each more desirable than the last, once you’ve decided on which one (or 3) to reward yourself with this February, you’ll also be pleased to know that all 9 bags are now available in Singapore.

If you have a specific question pertaining to any bag featured above (price, size, functionality), do feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you guys stat. And Happy Valentine’s Day in advance.
